The earlier the better; start fundraising for the Boston Marathon now

Did You Know?

In our experience, not only do most online donations come months in advance of the Boston Marathon but larger, individual donations happen earlier as well (check out our 2010 Marathon Success Guide for more detail). This means that not only do you get more donations the earlier you start but the average amount donated is considerably higher! Having already acheived a hefty dent in your fundraising goals by the time the deadline approaches can significantly increase your chances for a final fundraising push. As someone who is passionate enough to run 26.2 miles for a cause, why not do everything you can to maximize your efforts. The toned core and healthy blood pressure are a plus :)

The Early Bird Gets the Worm

Did you know that 91% of all donations arrive in the four months prior to a marathon? This means that now is the perfect time to start getting the word out about your charitable goals. Have you begun reaching out to friends, family and the rest of your extended network? Though it’s never too late to officially start your efforts, the sooner you begin the better. Aligning your training schedule with fundraising efforts is also a great way to stay on-top of your goals and fundraising minimums. This gives you the opportunity to brainstorm your fundraising strategy and train without mentally/physically putting yourself over the edge. We want to make this process as enjoyable as possible, right? That way, you'll continue to run the marathon year after year, improving both your running and fundraising personal record. Your doctor and nonprofit of choice will thank you, trust us. If this is your first time fundraising online, we encourage you to take a look around and see how a few simple tricks can significantly increase your donation effectiveness. Here's a great example of how Catherine has already begun fundraising for the Boston Marathon.

Good luck training and fundraising! We’ll be cheering you on!
