Twitter followers and your nonprofit

Twitter is a great way to connect to your audience, and stay up-to-date with other nonprofits, here’s what you should keep in mind.

To Follow and be followed

While making sure that you have a sizable amount of twitter followers is important, it is also crucial to make sure that you are following and being followed by the right users. The main point of twitter is to provide readers with useful information in a  concise format. This information can range from updates on events and fundraisers to relevant news briefs and articles. In order to make sure that your messages reach the right audience and that you are getting the most important information for your nonprofit make sure to be connected with other organizations that align with your nonprofit. These can range from nonprofits fundraising for the same cause, to well known nonprofits in the industry.

Optimizing your Twitter

In order to make sure that your nonprofit is using their Twitter to the best of their ability, make sure that you are actively posting and reposting content. You can do this through scheduling tweets and having followers that you specifically write new and interesting content for.  In addition, including popular #hashtags like #nptech or #fundraising, would enhance your overall search results. The main value you can gain from social media is the amount of interaction and participation so make sure to stay involved!
